About the Practitioner

I am a Board Certified Massage Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant and Health Coach. I have been a Massage Therapist since 2007 . I specialize in Advanced Myofascial Therapy, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Medical Massage, and Sports Massage. I also specialize in billing insurance for massage. My strong point is working with people around specific injuries and conditions.

I received my massage training from the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts in Durango, CO between 2006 and 2007. I have also worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 2011 and have proficiency in working with sports injuries, pre and post surgery, and athletic performance. I have been a part of the Durango running community for many years and offer a $10 discount for the Durango Running Club.

I am well practiced and well versed in providing for a spectrum of needs for my clients from relaxation to severe medical and musclo-skeletal issues. I received my Associates in Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2011.  I have gone on to receive certification in Advanced Myofascial Therapy from Advanced-Trainings, with special training in TMJ,  sciatica, disc issues, illia, sacrum, knee, shoulder, and ankle issues. I also have certifications from Rock Tape in kinesio taping, cupping, and instrument assisted soft tisse mobilization (IASTM).

I am well grounded in the biological sciences from my undergraduate studies in Neuroscience as well as extensive study of Structural Kinesiology, Anatomy and Physiology at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts where I received the highest level massage training. I feel confidant in my ability to use neuromuscular, myofascial, and deep tissue techniques to address the causes of pain, dysfunction, injury and postural issues. I also have a strong grounding in the more emotionally therapeutic realm from my years as a Wilderness Therapy guide for at risk teenagers. I feel that I have great ability to communicate, listen and meet clients emotionally as well as physically at the level they wish to be met.

My personal interests and experiences inform and deepen the massage that I provide.  I understand athletes; runners, cyclists, and crossfit athletes specifically, being a former competitive trail ultramarathoner,  triathlete, and  avid cyclist myself. As of 2015 I have finished over 50 ultramarathons, most in the 50 mile distance. I am constantly thinking about and researching the specific ways to keep the active body happy and healthy through nutrition, proper biomechanics, strength training, physical therapy, massage therapy. I live, eat, and breathe this stuff! Can non-athletes benefit from a massage therapy session with me? Yes! Because life is an athletic event, full of repetitive, stressful motions and postures. Where do you think the term "desk jockey" came from? It's an athletic event!
